Dish Network Second Satellite Launch Successful

Yesterday morning, Dish Network successfully launched their second satellite of the year. Their first satellite launch earlier this year failed to reach its proper orbit, which made this second release critically important to the future success of their HD programming capabilities. Dish Network released the satellites in order to expand their capacity to carry more HD channels, a necessary move to compete with other pay-tv providers who are rapidly expanding their HD lineup. A third satellite launch is scheduled for later this year.

Get Ready for Dish Network Turbo HD

On August 1, Dish Network will introduce TurboHD, the pay-tv industry's only 100 percent all-HD programming package with advanced equipment which will work on all TVs. TurboHD will offer the most popular HD channels on 4 different tiers and include HD locals where available. The really amazing thing is that the channels can be viewed on analog, digital, and High Def TVs making it the perfect choice for subscribers who are looking to upgrade to HD programming or have already. This has not been possible with any other programming provider before.

More information will come available in the coming weeks regarding the release of TurboHD. Below is a breakdown of the different tiers and their prices.

TurboHD Bronze: $24.99/month ($29.99/month with local channels*)

-- TurboHD Bronze DishDVR Advantage: $34.99/month; includes core HD package, local channels and a free DVR receiver

TurboHD Silver: $32.99/month ($37.99/month with local channels*)

-- TurboHD Silver DishDVR Advantage: $39.99/month; includes core HD package, local channels and a free DVR receiver; Regional Sports Networks where available

TurboHD Gold: $39.99/month ($44.99/month with locals channels*)

-- TurboHD Gold DishDVR Advantage: $49.99/month; includes core HD package, local channels and a free DVR receiver; Regional Sports Networks where available

TurboHD Platinum: $10/month - add TurboHD Platinum to any qualifying package and receive HD channels that do not have corresponding SD channels.

Also beginning August 1, new DISH Network subscribers who sign up under Digital Home Advantage (DHA) or DHA-24(24-month commitments) with America's Top 100 or higher, DishLATINO or higher, TurboHD Bronze or higher, or a qualifying International programming package will receive $50 off of their first statement and Cinemax for one year for just a penny. New or current DISH Network subscribers who commit to DHA-24 will also receive HBO and Starz free for the first three months of their subscription.

We'll keep you posted with new information as it comes available. Seventeen new national HD channels and TurboHD packages will be available beginning August 1, 2008.

Dish Network still on target to expand HD channels

Dish Network still plans to continue with its HD expansion plans for 2008 despite the recent launch failure of the AMC-14 satellite. The satellite, launched this past Friday on March 14, was intended to be the first of three satellites launched this year in order to reach the intended mark of 100 HD channels and 100 HD local markets by the end of the year. The AMC-14 satellite ended up short of its planned orbit, but is said to be stable and functioning normally. A decision has not been made yet about what to do with the satellite. Despite this setback, Dish Network is confident they can remain on track with two more launches scheduled for this year.

Add HD channels for as little as $10 a month when you sign up for Dish Network from All American Dish. New customers can take advantage of a free HD DVR upgrade, free installation, and free activation. You pay $0 upfront and there are no hidden fees. Give All American Dish a call today at 1-877-444-4388.

Comcast Cable Rates Rising in Illinois and Indiana

Comcast is greeting roughly 1.2 million new subscribers with a rate increase, and the best part is, there is no real explanation for the rate hike.

The rate increase is expected to take effect in April. The Standard package price is going from $48 to $51, the Basic package is increasing by $1, and the the Expanded Basic package is going up $2. Additionally, Premium movie channels, like HBO, are increasing by $1-$2, and the monthly DVR service fee is increasing from $8 to $10. The average bill is expected to increase 3.5%.

This past January, roughly half of Insight cable subscribers in Illinois and Indiana were passed over to Comcast. The rate increase affects Illinois customers primarily in Rockford/Dixon, Quincy/Macomb, Springfield, Peoria and Champaign/Urbana, and affects Indiana customers in Bloomington, Anderson, and Lafayette/Kokomo.
