Dish Network to Reach 100 HD Channels August 1

Great news for Dish Network and High Def fans alike! Despite some early setbacks with their first satellite launch earlier this year, Dish Network will reached their goal of 100 HD channels by year's end way ahead of schedule. Yesterday, they announced the addition of 17 HD channels on August 1, which will bring the overall total up to 100.

Dish Network Adds HD Locals in Grand Rapids, MI and Memphis, TN

Dish Network just announced the addition of HD locals in Grand Rapids, MI and HD local channels in Memphis, TN. This pushes the popular satellite provider even closer to their goal of 100 HD local markets by the end of 2008. The addition of these two new markets bring the satcaster's overall total up to 61 HD local markets, covering over 68% of TV households in the US. Dish Network Adds 2 New HD Channels

Friday, Dish Network added Sci-Fi Channel HD and USA Network HD channels to its dishHD lineup. These new High-Def channels now brings Dish Network's total up to 79 HD channels.

Despite setbacks resulting from a failed satellite launch earlier this year, Dish Network says they are still on track to reach 100 HD channels and expand to 100 HD local markets by the end of 2008. The satcaster has planned to launch 2 more satellites this year in order to reach this goal.

Dish Network Launches NBATV HD

Dish Network ads yet another HD channel to their lineup!

Effective October 29, 2007, DISH Network will launch NBATV HD into America’s Top 100 with DishHD (and higher). This service will be available on channel 9508 in MPEG4 and will map down beside its standard definition counterpart at channel 402. Please note that the standard definition version of NBATV, channel 402, is only available to customers with America’s “Everything” Pak or the Multi-Sport package, it is not available in America’s Top 100.



In addition to the offering in America’s Top 100 with DishHD (and higher), this service will be available as part of the NBA League Pass package at channel 9509 in MPEG4 (also at the 61.5° and 129° orbital locations). This service will map down beside its standard definition counterpart at channel 560.
